Day after day I ran here and there
Frantically chasing all the joys that I'd find
But my Guru revealed that the world was a dream
And changed the direction of my wandering mind

Some sing the praises of god after god
Do their ritual worship all their days and their nights
But my Guru united my mind with the Lord
And freed me from the bondage of scriptures and rights

And some search for God in the holiest shrines
They look for God here and they look for God there
But all my illusions were shattered apart
When my Guru revealed that God lives ev'rywhere

And where is the gift I can give in return?
There is nothing so worthy, nor will there ever be
Not even a mountain or rubies and gold
Can compare with the gift She has given to me
